Hello World!

Recently I was browsing around my local Target (as one does) and I stumbled across a clearance section. Now, this area is usually full of nonsense items that I don’t actually need in my life but the aura of Target seems to convince me otherwise, but not this time.

As I’ve mentioned, I moved into my own apartment this year and I’m still in the process of making it my own.

This time this particular section was full of bathroom essentials: shower curtains, towels, bath matts, the whole shebang! It was in that moment that I decided my bathroom needed a makeover. I think after everything I spent around $80, which I think is pretty reasonable considering towels alone are more expensive than, a piece of fabric used to dry your body, should be.

Above is everything that I decided to get. I ended up not using the vanity mirror in my bathroom but I have other plans for it… Below I will link all the items (or similar ones) for you all to browse and enjoy.

I love how my bathroom turned out! It was the exact look I was going for. Living on my own has really taught me about my taste and has given me so many opportunities to fully express who I am. If you enjoyed this transformation let me know below and comment what room I should show next!!!

Hello world! This week’s midweek motivation is brought to you by unpleasant co-workers. You know that one person that thinks everything they do is the best work ever done. The person who will do one thing all day and then get mad when you are trying to juggle five things at once. The type of person who is constantly negative about everything and always has a very specific opinion on anything that’s happening. I could go on and on about the person I have in mind but I’m sure you’re thinking of your own co-worker. There are days when I think “how can I possibly get through the day sitting next to this person” but then I think to myself, just because this person is bothering me they aren’t preventing me from doing the best I can at my job. That thought is something that I have been trying to work on every day when I show up for my job. It’s not fun working with difficult people, but sometimes we don’t have a choice. All we can do is put a smile on our faces and get the job done because in the end you will come out on top. I’ll be honest, I’ve struggled taking my own advice on this for a while and I’m still working on it. But I have come up with a list of ways to try to make working with difficult people a little easier.

So from my brain to yours, here is my top 6 ways to work with difficult people:

1. Don’t loose your cool. I know that it is easy to get overwhelmed and want to freak out on the other person for not helping, but by keeping your cool it will show your manager and other co-workers that you can work under pressure and juggle many tasks at once.
2. Don’t take it personally. This tip is really hard for me to remember. I like when people like me, so if one of my co-workers gives me a bit of an attitude or just doesn’t do their job, I take it to heart. I shouldn’t. We all have our bad days and at the end of the day, you don’t know what’s going on in that persons personal life. The reason they are upset or unhelpful could have literally nothing to do with you.
3. Don’t expect their behavior to change. There are many days where I sit at my desk and think “why am I sitting here helping every person that walks in and she is on Facebook”, yet day after day she does the same thing. If I come into work thinking she is going to change then I will just leave feeling frustrated. In different words, don’t expect anything.
4. Connect with the people you can help. In my line of work I have found that it is highly effective to make connections with the people I work with. Whether it is my other co-workers or someone who comes in needing help. I have had my manager come to me many times saying how great of a job I am doing because of those connections I am making. It proves that I value MY job over anything.
5. Try to understand why that person is difficult. I have worked with a lot of people in my life and something I’ve found out is that some people just don’t have a good work ethic. For all I know, she could be thinking she is doing an A+ job.
6. Offer your help. Even if the task they are doing is simple, if you have free time reach out and see if there is anything you can do to help them. Hopefully they will take a note and help you in return. Again, even if they don’t help you, you reaching out shows that you are willing to help when you have the time and that reflects positively on you.

I know that some days you will feel overwhelmed and underappreciated, but trust me when I say, I have used these tips myself and it has really worked in my favor. The most important thing to remember is that you are always going to have to deal with difficult people in your life, just make sure not to become that difficult person.

Holy cow guys! It’s 2018!!! With the new year comes new goals, new attitudes, and new motivation. 2017 ended with a lot of struggling. Struggling with my anxiety, struggling with my career, struggling with my degree, struggling with a move to a different town, but as of now I can say I officially got through it. Some of these are still things I’m figuring out in the new year but in the last year I can say for certain that I am stronger now because of it.

Why a vision board?

I am a firm believer that if you put something into the universe then you will get that. Whether its something positive, negative, goals, dreams, anything. If you put it into the universe enough, it will happen. That is my attitude going into this new year. By putting my goals on a board that I will see everyday, I will be putting those goals into the universe. It’ll also remind me to do something that brings me one step closer to those goals everyday. Along with my goals, I also put positive quotes. By seeing and reading these quotes, I’m hoping it helps me keep positive throughout my day.

-Printed out pictures/quotes

-Cork board/ picture frame/ fee wall space

-Washi Tape (optional)

-Markers/ colored pencils/ crayons (optional)

Creating my Vision Board:

My process of creating my vision board was going on Pinterest and looking up pictures of other peoples vision boards haha. I knew what they were but I wasn’t sure where to start. After getting a general idea of the goals and messages I wanted, I searched them (again on Pinterest) and printed out the ones I liked. Now, I could have taken pictures of how I put the board together, but it is pretty….boring. Print pictures, cut pictures out, tape to a board/frame. Pretty standard. Luckily I had a large cork board already, so I just repainted the frame and taped all my pictures to it.

Goals represented on my board:

-Do more yoga

-Be in nature more

-Be active

-Less stress

-Make more time to relax

-Let things go

-Stay positive

-Create more content

Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you, if I am not listening to a podcast or watching Netflix, I am watching a Youtube video. Now sometimes I get into a deep dive and end up watching compilation videos of owners coming home to their dogs after being away and just balling my eyes out (and if you don’t cry watching those videos then you really have no soul). However, I mainly go on to keep up with a few of my favorite people (none of which know I exist….so that’s fun). I watch a wide range of genres, so I am just going to share with you my overall favorite people to watch.

7. Clevver TV/Style/News: These are 3 different channels but it is the same people. I love the Clevver girls. They are relatable and funny. These videos cover a range of topics from celebrity news to cheat day food inventions. Their videos range in length (personally I like really long videos) which is great for binge watching.

6. Emma Hill: I just recently got into her videos and I am in love! I have been binge watching all of her content and it is really getting me inspired to revamp my wardrobe. A lot of her videos are fashion related. My favorite videos so far are her hauls (I just love seeing what people buy. I’m nosey like that haha). She also has a few makeup videos and vlogs. She is pretty new to Youtube but she has an amazing blog that I think you all should check out!

5. Acacia and Jairus: I feel like this channel is a little controversial. A lot of people don’t like Acacia for things that happened in her past and because they do a lot of sponsored videos. I used to watch her when she was younger and then when she started making videos again I got sucked back in. Acacia and Jairus are young parents. They just had their daughter Brinley and I believe that Acacia is only 19. I enjoy watching their videos because I like to keep ups with their family and see how they are constantly growing and changing together.

4. Julien Solomita: Julien is a vlogger. He is probably one of the most creative vloggers I have ever watched. He doesn’t just talk in to the camera like other vloggers. He uses different angles, voice overs and just creates vlogs that are like movies. I know he also does short films and those are amazing too. He is dating Jenna Marbles a.k.a Jenna Mourey (whose videos I also love) so its fun to see another side of their lives outside of Jenna’s videos.

3. Grace Helbig: I have watched her FOREVER!!!!! Her videos are a lot of comedy with a little cooking, beauty and DIY thrown in. She is a hot mess express and I love every single second of her videos. Her style of comedy is very self depricating in a way that makes you want to make fun of yourself. Because if you can’t laugh at yourself then life will just be a bore. Grace has also written/produced/stared in 2 movies; Camp Takota and Dirty 30 (I highly recommend watching both of those).

2. Jenna Marbles a.k.a Jenna Mourey: Jenna also does comedy videos with a little cooking, drinking, beauty, DIY, dogs and hot mess thrown in. I believe Jenna has been around since Youtubers became a thing, ya know, one of the OG’s. She is hilarious and has the cutest dogs in the world that put up with so much of her craziness. Her earlier videos (which I think everyone in the world needs to watch) were more sketch-like videos and now she has gotten into doing whatever pops into her head. This ranges from seeing how many balloons it takes to lift her chihuahua in the air to attempting to make a wig out of eyelashes. Her and her boyfriend Julien also have a gaming channel and a podcast.

1. Zoella a.k.a Zoe Sugg: Zoe is my number one youtube to watch. I have watched her since she was making videos in her room living with her parents and now she has her own home, her own book series, her own beauty line and her own lifestyle line. She has two channels; her main channel which features beauty, cooking and lifestyle videos, and her second channel which features mainly vlogs. She also has a blog but it isn’t updated as much as I would like. She is a British youtuber who has been extremely open about her anxiety. Because of this I have related to her more then I ever thought was possible. She is one of the only youtubers whose videos I will constantly go back and watch because I genuinely love them.

Evertime I go into Target I see these “build your own planner” sets in the $1-$5 section. Now, I am addicted to shopping at Target, so when I got paid I decided that I had to try it out! I was really really excited to build my own planner. I got to choose the binder that I wanted it in, the pattern of the pages/divider pages and any extras that I wanted to put in it. I didn’t really know what to expect because all my favorite planners have been more on the pricy side, so the fact that I was able to customize my own planner, for under $20, was a huge plus for me!!!

I really like the binder that I chose. It is simple and grey, with gold writing on it that says “work hard, play hard”. I also chose the pages/divider pages that had the palm leaf pattern. I do wish that I was able to choose a different color for the inside of the binder, but I liked the outside more than the others so I went with it!

The package with the pages included 52 weekly pages, 12 monthly pages and 40 note sheets. That package of pages was $3 (I got 2 packages just in case I messed up and needed more pages……which I did…), the binder was $5, the divider pages were $3 and the pages with the sticky notes on it were also $3.

As I started to put together the planner I found that the planner pages seemed to be printed backwards. So when you flip through the pages, so instead of opening the planner and seeing a page that starts on Monday, you open it and it starts on Thursday. That was a little confusing when I started writing in the dates. The pages that show the whole month at once also starts on a Thursday.

Overall, I wasn’t 100% in love with my planner. I am very picky when it comes to scheduling out my life and I need a planner that will fit my lifestyle. I do think this is a great cheap option for people who want to start organizing their day to day life, if they can get past the pages starting on a Thursday. This Wednesday I will be purchasing a new planner and will try to do a review/haul of what all I am buying!

I love a manicure as much as the next girl, but sometimes I just don’t have the money to get them done! Luckily I have found a cheaper (slightly less permanent)  way to get my nails looking amazing! imPRESS nails have been my savior on days I need a little confidence boost! This are stick on nails, that means no glue and no mess. I picked up a few of these nails at Walmart, however I know you can also get them at Target. They are super cheap, so you can buy 3-4 packs of theses for less than a trip to the salon! The thing I love most about these nails is that the sticky part allows for them to move around a little on your nails if you accidentally bump them. They fit comfortably on my nails and they come in so many different colors. I have found that they stay on for about a week and a half (which is about how long I can put up with long nails). I reach for these every time my boyfriend and I decided to have a date night or go out of town. When it is time to for them to come off, they peel off easily and don’t leave any residue on your nails. These are definitely my go-to nails for any occasion.
